The build up to the launch of the newest addition to the Bayliner Ciera range was certainly a dramatic affair (see Bayliner Ciera 8: Rekindling the Ciera badge), but does the boat itself live up to the hype? See for yourself as boats.com reviewer Alex Smith stepped aboard for a first look video.

Firstly, though, you might wonder whether the exclusive atmosphere at Cannes Boat Show is the right place for a mid-sized production sports cruiser to be making its first impression on the public. But as Alex explains, the new Ciera 8 fits right in at the show with a new high-end look and feel to the boat.

Bayliner Ciera 8 sports cruiser: first look video

Alex Smith introduces the Bayliner Ciera 8 sports cruiser.

There's praise for the wide variety of optional extras Bayliner has on offer, which permits the boat to be customised to quite an extent. Plus down below, there is headroom to spare (for an averagely tall person), three berths and an optional berth in the cockpit (assuming you have a cover fitted).

There are plans afoot to extend the range to include a Ciera 10 and a Ciera 12, and if this opening statement is anything to go by, Bayliner's on to a good thing.
